Erm..sexy trend alert! The Taper candle is back and it’s BIG!
You know we adore a bit of candlelight here at Etiquette. For us, it's one of the most important formulas to our styling blueprint and we are loving that these candles are growing in popularity. However, these aren’t the old-school tapers you’ve seen casting a flattering glow over romantic dinners in every rom-com ever though...! No, these are something more. Yes, the taper candle has a long history in the home, but the latest designs have a distinctly modern flavour. Unusual shapes, neon colours, ombre-hued and a gorgeous array of contemporary vessels to house them in. Strategically placed, the taper candle is adding interest, a touch of colour, height and coolness to any table-scape.
Today we will launch down the rabbit hole of the taper candle, offering our favourite looks and ideas on how to incorporate this hot trend into your wedding design.
First up, a bit of a 101.. just in case this is a whole new world to you! Taper candles are tall, thin candles that come in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes. They can be used to add a pop of colour to your centrepieces, aisle markers or even in the wedding ceremony itself. They are an elegant and simple way to add a touch of warm lighting and interest to your wedding styling.
Not so long ago, we gave you some tips on how best to choose your wedding colour pallet, and using coloured candles is one of the best ways to introduce shades of any colour throughout your wedding design. Even if you wanted to keep all other elements muted and neutral, but wanted that slight nod your chosen colour from your invites or bridesmaids dresses, then there are SO many to choose from to achieve this. From the classic block colour to ombre, the choices are endless and really fun!
Give things a twist! Twisted candles are great for added texture, interest and that lux look!
Reminder! - It's not just about the candle, don't forget the candleholder too. It's an important feature, not only to keep things upright and in place but an essential fashion accessory to compliment your chosen taper candle. Add a few florals and hey presto, one beautiful table!
Taper candles can also be used in the wedding ceremony itself. For example, you could have your bridesmaids or groomsmen light taper candles at the start of the ceremony to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. This is a beautiful way to incorporate the colours from your wedding theme into the ceremony and make it more personal.
In addition to their aesthetic appeal, taper candles are also a practical choice for weddings. They are easy to light and do not drip wax like traditional pillar candles, making them ideal for use in a wedding setting.
In conclusion, incorporating coloured taper candles into your wedding decor is a simple yet effective way to add a touch of colour, romance and sophistication to your special day. Whether you choose a cohesive colour scheme or go for a bold pop of colour, taper candles are a versatile and practical choice that will make your wedding unforgettable.
